Tampa FL – Amscot Financial is teaming up with Sessums Elementary to give local kids free bike helmets as part of “International Bike to School Day.”
The event will be held on May 4th and was a joint effort between Amscot Financial and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to promote bike safety at the school and to hand out free helmets to any child needing one.
Sessums, located at 11525 Ramble Creek Dr. in Riverview, currently has 1,082 children enrolled, and 40-60 of those students ride their bicycles to school.
“Supporting child safety initiatives has always been a priority here at Amscot,” said Ian MacKechnie, Amscot’s founder, chairmen and CEO. “We are glad to have this chance to help more local kids ride their bikes safely.”
Sessums Elementary Principal Allison Norgard agrees, further stating that safety is an issue that deserves ongoing attention. “Our school Resource Officer and school administration work together to educate our students on bike and pedestrian safety. With the help of community partnerships we can work together to continue to keep our kids safe."
Amscot will have a tent set up at Sessums Elementary to serve students as they arrive at school around 7am. The sheriff’s department will be assisting by fitting every child in need with a free helmet, courtesy of Amscot.
