Tampa FL – In the wake of Hurricane Maria, some bay-area business like Amscot Financial are stepping forward to aid in recovery efforts. Amscot, which is headquartered in Tampa and serves many communities throughout Florida, just donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross in support of disaster relief for Puerto Rico & the surrounding islands.

“Many of our customers and associates have friends and family members who are now dealing with very challenging circumstances," said Ian MacKechnie, Amscot’s founder, chairman and CEO. “The Red Cross is on the ground providing life-saving assistance, but they need our help.”

Those who have family and friends in Puerto Rico and the surrounding islands may be wondering how to contact them. One option is to call the Hurricane Hotline at 1-877-976-2400. The American Red Cross has also launched a “Safe and Well” website that enables residents to check in and let friends and family know they are safe. The URL address is www.redcross.org/safeandwell.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and education in the United States.
