Metropolitan Ministries

We provide critical help and long-term answers to help our clients reach self-sufficiency, and are dependent on the generosity and partnership of our community.
The Bridge Builders Annual Luncheon is Metropolitan Ministries annual fundraising event held at the Tampa Convention Center where individuals and organizations sponsor tables to support Metropolitan Ministries. 

Each year, Amscot Financial sponsors tables at the luncheon in support of this great ministry to reach the poor and homeless in our community. For more information on Metropolitan Ministries, visit their website at www.metmin.org

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Big Bend 
We supported the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Program in Tallahassee by contributing to the Boyd Family Annual Charity Dove Hunt & Dinner. Our generous support helped to augment program services for the agency. With our community support, as well as others, the organization is able to bring more magic to the lives of children in the Big Bend area.

Blooming Place for Kids
This Clearwater-based non-profit is committed to enriching the lives of children ages 8 to 15 who are at risk due to neglect and abuse by providing a unique summer camp program (designed to build good character, provide interaction and good values) which has a profound effect on their self esteem. Throughout the year they also provide ongoing support in other ways including a newsletter. Amscot Financial provided a gift-in-kind donation for the participants in their 3rd Annual “Sponsor a Child for Camp” Charity Golf Tournament.

The Angelus House
The Angelus House is a home for severely handicapped persons who are not able to care for themselves. All of the residents and students have cerebral palsy and are confined to wheelchairs. Amscot Financial made a contribution to their 15th Annual Country Concert, which raises funds to support the work and services that they provide.

The Children’s Home
The Children’s Home was founded in 1892 and is the oldest charity on Florida’s west coast. It has assisted more than 20,000 children and placed 6,000 children with loving foster/adoptive families. Amscot Financial supported a special event sponsored by their South Tampa Auxiliary for the Conn-Cottage, a house for elementary school age children at The Children’s Home.

The Children’s Museum of Tampa, Inc.
The Children’s Museum is an educational and cultural resource dedicated to toddlers to teen’s literacy and cultural diversity. Amscot sponsored tables for their annual gala event, as well as provided resource support to their marketing and public relations committees.

Lakewood Elementary School – St. Petersburg, FL 
This year we donated $500 to sponsor the Math Parent Workshop held on September 22, 2005 at Lakewood Elementary School in St. Petersburg. The workshop educates parents of elementary school-aged children on how to work through and complete the math homework that the children take home. By assisting parents, students are more successful in completing their homework assignments and achieving passing grades.

Lomax Elementary Magnet School – Tampa, FL 
This year, Amscot Financial donated 50 bike helmets to the Health and Safety Fair that was held at Lomax Elementary Magnet School. The Health and Safety Fair included booths which provided information on health and personal safety issues, poison control, animal safety, hurricane preparedness, firearm safety, water safety, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, child abduction prevention, CPR, and automobile safety. The first 50 children to visit each booth received a free bike helmet from Amscot Financial!

13th Annual Golf Tournament for A Brighter Community – Tampa, FL 
A Brighter Community is a non-profit pre-school and family support program that subsidizes admission to the pre-school for children ages 3-6 whose parents are mostly low-income, single parents that are either working, full-time students or in job training programs. This year, Amscot Financial donated pens for the 13th Annual Golf Tournament which is A Brighter Community’s major annual fundraising event. The pens were added to goodie bags which were given to the event participants.

Hillsborough Education Foundation 
Amscot Financial contributed to the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Annual Comedy Night. Proceeds from the Comedy Night benefit the Communities in Schools “stay in school” programs administered through the Hillsborough Education Foundation. Communities in Schools of Hillsborough is dedicated to providing needed community resources to help young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life.
 
Help A Child, Inc. - Pinellas Park, FL
Amscot Financial presented a $1,000 contribution to Help A Child, Inc. which operates six programs that provide assistance to families who have children with special needs and families who are experiencing child abuse, neglect, or exposure to violence. Programs range from prevention techniques to intensive residential care. The organization serves all of Pinellas County and does not charge the community for its programs. Amscot’s donation will help fund the purchase of items for the children and families that are served throughout the community.
